This was a great course. The instructor articulately and enthusiastically presented every lecture using very helpful and well organized PowerPoint presentations. You could tell how much she cared about the subject and the students, and she made every effort to help us understand difficult concepts and to stimulate interest. She made it very clear that she was willing and able to help if anyone ever needed it and was very effective in this area. The homework and tests were fair, and an excellent effort was made to help students prepare and succeed. Keep up the good teaching!

Sonoma State and the Biology department are so lucky to have Wendy St. John on their bill. She is so full of zest for not only Biology, but for life! And it is so infectious! More often than not did I find myself cracking up at Wendy’s loony demeanor and I wish more people could be like this! Personally, I am not a science girl and did not thrive in this biology curriculum. But, it was so much greater with Wendy as my teacher. Love her. All the raises to her!!!

Wendy is enthusiastic and endearing, and really inspires a life of conservation in her course. She is not afraid to be critical of conservation practices, and invites students to pursue a critical viewpoint further. She explains course topics clearly and effectively. I really enjoyed lab with Wendy, she was so helpful, honest and knowledgeable, it made lab a fun part of my day. It was such a relief and good contrast to lecture, helping me to better understand topics. This bio lab has been by far, one of my favorites, and a lot of that I owe to Wendy, she is such an enthusiastic teacher, I really enjoyed being a part of her section.

I loved how much experience I got in this class. Wendy, I LOVE that you took us outside a couple of times this semester, for discussion and to find koi fish in the man-made ponds on campus. I love how willing she is to help and how understanding she is about student’s personal lives, i.e. she recognizes that we are human! I will miss this class, it made me love biology! I took this class thinking it was just going to fulfill a GE but I actually really liked it. I may even want to pursue taking a different course related to this field. It was really eye opening to see how the world is affected by us and how we do things, such as litter, drive our gas-filled cars, and how we just keep buying plastic reusable bags and then throwing them out instead of REUSING them, like we should. Anyways Wendy St. John was very passionate about this subject which made it more easier to learn about and focus on for lecture. Overall, I think this class was super fun and I am glad I went out on a whim and took this in the first place.

Wendy is the best Biology teacher I have ever had. Thanks to her I have a better understanding in one of my weakest subjects. She makes class enjoyable and interesting because she clearly has a passion for what she is talking about. Her energy rubs off on you and I love her to bits.

People were always able to interject their thoughts about what was being said and would be greeted with a well thought out answer. Sonoma State and the Biology department are so lucky to have Wendy St. John on their bill. She is so full of zest for not only Biology, but for life! And it is so infectious! More often than not did I find myself cracking up at Wendy’s loony demeanor and I wish more people could be like this! The way she displays the information is very effective and her enthusiasm and humor make me enjoy learning the material. Give this lady a raise or something because she is amazing!!
